Description
The first generation Camaro is one of the most desirable models of the muscle car era. Lasting from 1967-1969, this platform continues to be the most popular (and valuable) Camaro family of all time. This 1969 big block SS clone has a lot to offer including a rust free body, automatic transmission, power steering and brakes, and a classic look that still looks great more than 50 years later.
This example was built in January 1969 and spent many years in Louisiana. It features a solid body and underside, though the rear floor pans have been patched (very common for these cars). Originally code 59 Frost Green, it was repainted Garnet Red and later received black SS striping and badging. It also features a cowl hood along with front and rear spoilers. The Rally wheels with BF Goodrich tires complete the iconic look.
The original 6-cylinder engine was replaced with something far more capable. While it might pass for a 396, it is actually a 454 with a few performance parts including an aluminum intake manifold, Holley 4-barrel carburetor, electronic ignition, and headers. Note the radiator with proper fan shroud as well. The transmission is a TH400 automatic and feeds a 10-bolt rear end on monoleaf springs. This Camaro is also equipped with power steering and power front disc brakes, making it easy for anyone to drive.
The black interior appears all stock. The front bucket seats and matching rear bench are all in great shape. Same with the door panels and dash. The car also has a center console with horseshoe shifter. A set of underdash oil / temp / volt gauges were added along with a tach on the column. There is also an aftermarket radio. The lights, turn signals, horn, wipers, and parking brake all work properly. Note the front seat belt shoulder straps are also present.
Camaros are one of the most endearing cars of the 1960’s. This one captures that spirit with the look and sound that put them on the map. And while Camaro prices continue to soar, this one remains a bargain despite being a southern car with a big block.
